Where to put the checkpoints
Place approvals where an error would be costly or visible: money leaving the business, first contact with a customer, changes to contracts or personal data, and anything legally sensitive. Low-risk steps, such as filing a document or tagging a lead, can usually run without approval once tested.
Make approval quick. If reviewing takes as long as doing the work, people will skip it. A one-tap approve or edit, with the AI's reasoning shown, works best.
Human on the loop
Once a workflow is reliable, many teams move from approving every item to monitoring: the AI acts, a person reviews samples and exception reports, and anything unusual is paused automatically. That is how automation scales without losing control.
